Q. How are long distance calls free? Back
A. There are three ways to take advantage of free long distance.
1) To call anywhere in the world for free, both parties need to have iPhone. All iPhone-to-iPhone calls are free regardless of where they are in the world.
2) Anybody can call for free from anywhere in Canada by using the Comwave Community Access Numbers (CCAN). For Example: You have iPhone in Toronto with a 416 area code. You have friends in Vancouver. They simply dial the Vancouver CCAN and call you for free...Free for you and Free for them!
3) By choosing any of our Unlimited packages
Q. How is Comwave iPhone™ different from my current local line? Back
A. iPhone is a new digital technology that allows you to use your existing internet service to make and receive regular phone calls. You will enjoy enhanced services like call waiting, visual call waiting, and call forwarding just like traditional phone companies offer. All you need is a High Speed Internet connection and our free Comwave Connect Box ($50 refundable security deposit) and you can start saving immediately.
Q. Is Comwave iPhone™ available for residential and businesses? Back
A. Absolutely. Comwave iPhone is available for your home, and business. Businesses can enjoy the ease of increasing lines and services in minutes. Need and extra line for a new employee? Now instead of weeks, it takes minutes. Also add phone numbers from different cities to give your company a national presence.
Q. How does the Bring-A-Buddy program work? Back
A. For every friend that you refer and signs up to iPhone, we will reduce your monthly iPhone fee by $1 for life. Refer as many friends as you can until your iPhone service is Free. Eg. You pay $14.95/month today. You refer two friends and your new monthly iPhone fee is $14.95-$2=$12.95/month forever. If one of your referrals cancels, your monthly fee increases by $1.
Q. Does Comwave iPhone™ work with all High Speed Internet connections? Back
A. Yes. DSL, DSL Lite or Cable modem. From Canada's famous brands: Bell Sympatico, Rogers Cable, Shaw Cable, Telus, Videotron, Look, and many more across the USA.
Q. I have a DSL Lite or Cable High Speed Lite/Ultra Lite service. Back
A. iPhone was designed to work on all internet connections (except dial-up) but we recommend that you have "full" high speed internet (1-3 Megs) for your iPhone service. "Lite" services will in most cases support your iPhone but your quality will degrade when you start to brows and download from the internet. This is why we recommend the "full" high-speed internet services.
Q. Can I use your service over the dial-up Internet connection? Back
A. Yes, but only with our ePhone product that functions the same way albeit the phone is located in your PC. You can still make and receive calls just like a regular phone. You can download ePhone for free at www.comwave.net/ephone
Q. Can I transfer my current phone number to iPhone™? Back
A. Yes you can. Simply log in to "my account" web portal and complete the online transfer form. The switch is easy, while in process you will be given a temporary iPhone number so you can enjoy your iPhone service while the phone company makes the switch. It usually takes 14 days from the time you complete the form. Once the transfer is complete your old phone number will land on the iPhone. You will no longer be billed from your old phone company. Transfer is only available in Comwave serving territory
Q. What do you mean by “selecting your area code”? Back
A. As a Comwave iPhone™ customer you are not limited to the local area code of the place you live any more. You can select most major area codes in Canada or the USA. For example you live in Toronto but your mother lives in Montreal, you can select a 514 number so that she can call you for Free.
Q. Is 911 or 411 available? Back
A. Comwave 911 works through a third party that answers your emergency calls and then dispatches the authorities. Comwave is the only company to provide emergency responders with key information about critical medical history. We encourage you to log on-line to the iPhone web portal to complete the 911 registration. There you will also be able to confidentially list medical information about people in your household so that in the event of an emergency the authorities will have critical information. 411 at the present time is not available.
Q. Can I get multiple phone lines? Back
A. You can have as many lines as you wish. Each iPhone supports 2 lines and you can stack as many iPhones as you like.
Q. What is a "Comwave Community Access Number" (CCAN)? Back
A. There are Comwave Community Access Numbers in most major cities in the US and Canada. Lets say you have a friend in Montreal and you live in Toronto. He can call the CCAN, then your phone number and you both eliminate a long distance call.
Q. Do I need to know a lot about computers to use this service? Back
A. No. Comwave iPhone™ is very easy to install and you will use the same telephone or cordless phone that you would normally use with your local telephone company. If you need assistance we have tech support available at www.comwave.net/support
Q. What do I need to use Comwave iPhone™? Back
A. The only things you need to have are a High Speed Internet service (Cable or DSL) and a standard telephone. We recommend a cordless phone. Comwave will provide the additional equipment required (Comwave Connect Box) to set up and use iPhone™ - free of charge ($50 refundable security deposit).
Q. When will my Comwave iPhone™ start to work? Back
A. Your Comwave iPhone™ Starter Kit will arrive in within 7 days. You can install and start using it in minutes.
Q. Do I need to turn my computer on to use iPhone™? Back
A. No, Comwave iPhone™ does not require a computer. However, Comwave iPhone™ allows you to talk and surf the Internet at the same time.
Q. Can I keep the service if I move? Back
A. Yes, if you or your business move, you can keep your service and your phone number. You just need to have a High Speed Internet connection at your new location.
Q. Can I keep the service if I travel? Back
A. Yes, you can take the Comwave Connect Box with you or as an easier alternative you can use the Comwave ePhone from any PC to make and receive calls on your account. Download ePhone free at www.comwave/ephone
Q. Can I use a fax with iPhone™ service? Back
A. In most cases the answer is Yes. The success is related to your internet speed connection, its quality and your fax machine. A fax requires 64K to function and many internet connection (Lite & Ultra Lite) variations do not provide constant speeds that a fax needs. We recommend that you have "full" high speed internet (1-3 Megs) for faxing. Your fax machine also plays a factor in its compatibility with internet based telephone services. There is no adjustment to be done on our part. You will just need to try.
